Peak heat indices are forecast to hit between 110 and 115 over the next few days with heat stroke imminent with prolonged outdoor activity. Wednesday, the heat is supposed to crank up to historic highs.

If the high temperature reaches 101 Tuesday it will tie a record set in 2007. Forecasted highs for Wednesday of 104 would break a record high of 103 set in 1924. Thursday’s forecasted high of 105 would break the high temperature record of 104 degrees set in 1924.

Remember to stay hydrated and cool this week. Check in on the elderly and make sure your pets are staying cool as well. Lincoln County does not have any cooling shelters but there are splash pads at Bicentennial park and Brookhaven City Park.
