As area music lovers know, it’s not the trains that rock the Railroad Park Stage in downtown Brookhaven.
Live performances are consistently a hit when the strings of lights in the magnolias come on, performers step onto the wooden stage, and the first chord of the first song of the night makes its way through the speakers and into the evening air.
The inaugural Brookhaven Fall Concert Series will begin on the Railroad Park Stage on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Aa’Keela & The Beats will perform 7-9 p.m. The multiple-member group from Meridian is described as an energetic cover band whose catalog includes a blend of funk, soul, R&B, jazz, rock and gospel.
On Oct. 21, Clear Creek — a Tylertown-based country and Southern rock band — will perform 7-9 p.m.
To round out the series on Nov. 11, area concert-goers will welcome a familiar band in The Lincoln Outfit, also performing 7-9 p.m. The South Mississippi band is made up of Cody Dunaway, Clinton Gooch, Baleigh Gooch, Crawford Stevens and Hagen Conn.
Sponsored by the Brookhaven Tourism Council, the three-concert series is intended to be the first of many over the coming years. The council has sponsored a Summer Concert Series featuring three bands, one per month May-July, since 2017.
All of the series’ concerts are free to the public and outdoors. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
