Chance of rain ushers in cooler week starting Monday

BROOKHAVEN — A break from the heat is in store this week, well a slight break. NWS Jackson have downgraded the heat stress conditions this week as there are chances of rain in the forecast each day.
Monday’s high will hit 93 with a heat index of 101, cooler than the forecasted 103 heat index recorded Sunday. There is a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms in the forecast while most of the storm threat is north of Lincoln County from Copiah County to the Jackson metropolitan area.
Monday night has a cool low of 72 and a 20 percent chance of precipitation. Independence Day will have a high near 90 and a heat index of just 100. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent with possible thunderstorms as America celebrates.
Rain is likely Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday bringing lower forecasted heat indexes compared to last week.
