Juneteenth parade kicks off celebrations

BROOKHAVEN — Juneteenth, now officially a local, state and federal holiday, kicked off with a parade in Brookhaven Saturday afternoon. June 19th is the day of celebration of an order declared on June 19, 1865 which proclaimed freedom for slaves in Texas.
