The Copiah-Lincoln Community College football team will look to keep the momentum of a winning season last year going when they open the 2023 campaign with back-to-back home dates in early September.
The Wolves and coach Glenn Davis begin the 2023 season on Sept. 7 when they’ll host East Mississippi in H.L. “Hook” Stone Stadium.
All Co-Lin home games begin with a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
Last season in Scooba, East Mississippi beat Co-Lin 38-0 as the Lions went on to finish 8-3 and won the MACCC state championship game with a 36-28 upset of then no. 2 Northwest Mississippi.
Week two for Co-Lin will be another home game, this time against the Mississippi Delta Trojans on Sept. 14. Last season, the Wolves topped the Trojans 37-7 in Moorhead.
Co-Lin will begin MACCC South Division play on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. when it travels to Ellisville to face the Jones College Bobcats.
Jones finished as the runners-up last year in the MACCC South Division and beat Co-Lin 23-17 in Wesson.
On Sept. 28, Co-Lin will play its first home conference date by taking on Southwest Mississippi in Wesson. The Wolves have won eight straight over their rivals from Summit and beat SMCC 44-13 last season.
Co-Lin will then play the only Saturday date on the 2023 schedule against Coahoma in Clarksdale on Cot. 7. That game is scheduled to kick off at 5p.m. The Wolves bested Coahoma 35-10 last season in Wesson.
That date sets up a short week for the Wolves as they’ll then get back into MACCC South Division play on Oct. 12 against Mississippi Gulf Coast. That game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. in Perkinston. Gulf Coast beat Co-Lin 31-28 last season.
The final two home games of the regular season are set for Oct. 19 against Pearl River and Oct. 26 versus East Central. The East Central game will serve as homecoming in Wesson.
Pearl River topped Co-Lin on the road 24-14 last season and the Wolves won 26-14 at East Central in 2022.
The regular season finale for Co-Lin is a road trip to play at Hinds in Raymond on Nov. 2. Last season, the Wolves beat Hinds 28-21 in Wesson.
