Expect severe weather Friday, Sunday

BROOKHAVEN — Rain, rain won’t go away, it will come back again some other day. Blue skies and warm temperatures have returned Wednesday but rain is coming.
NWS Jackson forecasts a sunny Thursday before showers and rain clouds come to the area Friday. There is a 40 percent chance of rain Friday morning until about 3 p.m.
Severe weather will arrive to the area in the late afternoon. This weather is forecast to have strong damaging winds up to 70 mph, large hail and tornadoes with some of those being potentially strong.
Early Saturday morning, there is a 90 percent chance of rain and wind gusts could get up to 40 mph. By daybreak, it is forecast to be sunny on Saturday. You better take advantage of the nice weather before more rain returns Sunday.
Hail and damaging winds could accompany a severe storm forecast to hit Sunday. NWS Jackson says the severe storms forecast for Sunday are a few days away and there will be more detailed forecasts to come in the coming days.
Little Bahalia was hit by a tornado in February in a similar line of severe storms. It was determined to be an EF1 and destroyed a trailer and damaged a carport in northeast Lincoln County. Mississippi has had 15 tornadoes touchdown in the state this year.
