BROOKHAVEN — A wind warning is in effect for Lincoln, Franklin, Lawerence and Jefferson Davis County until 6 a.m. Wednesday. South winds with sustained speeds up to 25 to 35 mph are expected with frequent gusts up to 50 mph are also expected.

Damaging winds could be a threat to limbs, trees and high profile vehicles. Power outages will be likely. One thing people can do to be safe in high winds is to avoid being outside in forested areas or around trees and branches. Remain in the lower levels of your house during the wind storm and avoid standing close to windows. Use caution if you must drive.
