You are part of the show

Hi, all. Just a thought to help start your weekend.
Have you ever attended a car show? If you have, then you’ve seen vehicles such as this old Cadillac on display. The cars, trucks, and perhaps other vehicles will be placed strategically around the area. They usually have hoods raised and doors or trunks opened to give you a really good view.
You are then able to check out an engine, ogle the interior, or spy on hidden gems in the trunk or cargo space. You get an idea of how the vehicle runs and what makes it go. The purpose of the car show is to let you get up close and personal with those vehicles on display.
As a child of God, we must remember that we are on display as well. We aren’t literally sitting around waiting for folks to meander by and stare at what makes us tick. But, we certainly are in the public and on display. People are constantly looking at us, watching to see how we run or work or keep going. They pay attention to the loads we carry, the junk we have hidden, and the ones we allow to tag along for the ride. They watch us, whether we like it or not.
This means we need to be ever-mindful of the watchful eyes. No, we aren’t perfect. And Jesus Himself never said we should be. But, we are called to become more like Him every day. And as a Christian, one who is labeled by His name, we must remember that as the world sees us, they see Him.
And what is it that they see? A beat up old has-been, sitting on blocks and rusting away with nothing but memories of the good-ole-days to pep us up? Or a vehicle of the Gospel of hope, ready to share the ride with anyone who cares to come along? The truth is, you are part of the show. The real question is, what do they see?
Just a thought. ’Til later.
