The 47th annual Ole Brook Festival is this coming weekend in downtown Brookhaven. Parking and entry to the festival are free.
The festival will feature arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, live music, a Kids Zone and a car show. Hours are Friday, Sept. 30, 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 1, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The GT Collision Ole Brook Festival Car Show will be Saturday, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 11 a.m. The show will continue until the awards presentation at 2:30 p.m. Registration fee is $10 per vehicle.
“The parking space is worth $10,” said organizer T-Tommy Smith. “The weather is going to be outstanding.”
Door prizes and awards including Sweet 16 and People’s Choice will be presented, and Smith expects 75-80 cars to enter, about the same number as the previous two years.
The Chamber staff reminds citizens that road closures will begin mid-afternoon Friday on South Whitworth Avenue between Monticello and West Chickasaw Street. Railroad Avenue will close late Friday evening. The Railroad Avenue south parking lot will close at 5 p.m. Thursday, and the north parking lot will close Friday evening.
