Forty-two members of The Butterbeans — Wesson Garden Club’s sponsored youth gardeners — met Monday, Sept. 12, at Wesson Old School. The third through sixth-grade students were divided into eight teams and competed in a nature scavenger hunt. Each team was given a list of 31 nature items that could be found on the grounds of the school, including different-colored flowers, a pine cone, a worm, and a pretty colored leaf.
Two teams tied for first in finding all their items. These students were Paris Beasley, Emmett Case, Katie Grace Garcia, Leighton Hall, Abigail Holloway, Emma Lewis, Kori Peets, Trajan Upton, Will Wade and Jax White. WGC members helping with the search were Pam Owens, Jennifer Peets, Marilyn Phillips, Debbie Smith, Lisa Smith, Dixie Thornton and Brittney Warren.
Kennedy Garcia stood on the back of her sister, Katie Grace Garcia, for a selfie at the newly-installed Butterfly Selfie Wall in Wesson’s Fountain Garden. The girls are granddaughters of Club member Robin Furr. The wall, built by club member Jennifer Peets, has been placed in the garden and is ready for anyone to use as a background for selfies. The QR code on the butterfly wall can be scanned to share selfies with the club.
