Dr. Dorian Williams, a native of Brookhaven, has been named faculty athletic representative at Dillard University and co-chair of the university’s Intercollegiate Athletic Committee.
Williams, dean of Dillard’s College of Business since 2021, is a 1995 graduate of Brookhaven High School. He and Dr. Blair Condoll were selected by university president Dr. Rochelle L. Ford to the two positions. The IAC works in an advisory capacity to ensure the university’s athletes meet all academic eligibility requirements set forth by the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Williams said being selected is an honor and privilege that he does not take lightly, and one that bears great responsibility.
“I believe that this position requires an individual who values integrity, academic excellence amongst both faculty and students, and the spirit of competitive fortitude,” he said.
While attending BHS, Williams was a member of the boys basketball team, and the track and field team. After graduation, he served as an assistant basketball coach at BHS. He earned both his MBA in 2005 and Ph.D. in 2016 from Jackson State University.
Williams is married to Kenyatta Thadison Williams. Their children Kieran Von Williams and De’Naejah Williams were both active members of the BHS football and girls basketball teams. Williams is the son of Benjamin Williams Jr. and the late Montez Bryant Williams.
Dillard University is Louisiana’s oldest Historically Black College and University, formed in 1869 from the union of Straight College and New Orleans University. Dillard is a private faith-based liberal arts university in New Orleans.
