Congressman Michael Guest, a vice ranking member of the Committee on Homeland Security, will join eight other members of Congress on a April 25 trip to the southern border. The group, led by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, will learn about the strategies employed to address the southern border security crisis.
Joining Guest (MS-03) and McCarthy (CA-23) are chair Elise Stefanik (NY-21), Rep. Tony Gonzales (TX-23), Rep. Randy Weber (TX-14), Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21), Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14), Rep. Diana Harshbarger (TN-01) and Rep. Blake Moore (UT-01).
Members will meet with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Army National Guard in the Del Rio Sector.
The group is also interested in learning more about how law enforcement agencies are preparing to handle the impact of the removal of Title 42, which experts warn will likely worsen the crisis that already exists at the border.
The delegation also expects to meet with local community leaders in order to better understand the safety and public service obstacles these leaders are anticipating during the looming elevated immigration crisis.
This visit will be Guest’s second trip to the border this year and third trip during his time in Congress.
