Region 8 Mental Health and Region 8 Mental Health Commission recently held 2021 annual awards ceremonies. Employees were honored for outstanding performance, professionalism and tenure.

Among those awards was the Emile Craig Commissioners’ Award of Excellence, presented to an administrative employee that exemplifies, through their actions, a model of leadership and whom has made significant contributions through their giving spirit to the Region 8 Commission, its employees, and citizens served by the agency.

The Commissioners Award of Excellence will forever carry the name of Mr. Emile Craig due to a unanimous resolution by the Region 8 Commission after his untimely death in 2020. This year’s recipient is the late Region 8 Commissioner Melvin Ray.

The Professional Excellence Award was given to the most dedicated to their profession and has the interest of every individual as their number one priority. They exemplify integrity, compassion and commitment, while also consistently striving to go above and beyond to meet consumer and family needs.

The Milinda Clark “Power of 8” Memorial Award was given to a Region 8 employee that embodied the true “Spirit and Heart” of Region 8. The specific criteria for this award were the true, undeniable characteristics of former employee, Milinda Clark. She motivated others to achieve and always led by example.

One of the most esteemed awards presented at the ceremony was the Power of 8 Awards. Only a select few from Region 8’s five counties are recognized with this award for their unwavering commitment to outstanding performance.
