Lincoln County Deputy Mike Campbell will turn off his radio and turn in his keys at the end of the day Wednesday, just as Lincoln County Emergency Management Director Clifford Galey Sr. will do.

The two men are entering retirement, and were honored recently by the county for their many years of service — 13 years with the Sheriff’s Office and eight as courthouse guard for Campbell, and 39 years in civil defense for Galey — with a reception and visits with friends, co-workers, family and well-wishers.

Galey’s wife Cindy has helped him as a volunteer the entire time he’s been the county’s emergency management leader, and she will be leaving the office with her husband. Galey, 67, said it’s been a blessing to have been able to do the job this long.
