I-55 southbound is blocked just south of Crystal Springs after two 18-wheelers collided Tuesday morning, according to Jackson news media.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol says just before 5 a.m. the two vehicles crashed in Copiah County, blocking both southbound lanes.

First responders transported one person with injuries to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

MHP says they have no timetable for when the road will reopen and travelers should find alternative routes.
