The BARK Agility Club will present an agility trial of dogs in Brookhaven Friday through Sunday at Lincoln Civic Center.

“To my knowledge, this is the first dog show to be held in Brookhaven,” said Lincoln Civic Center facilities manager Quinn Jordan. “We’re excited about it.”

The AKC club based in Brandon promotes the sport of dog agility, in which a handler and his or her dog completes a series of complex obstacles in a set pattern. Obstacles include jumps, tunnels, weave poles and other contact equipment. The dog and handler teams are specially trained to compete in the sport.

The club consists of a close-knit group of friends who train together and provide support for one another. Several different teams compete at different levels with different breeds of dogs, and all breeds are welcome to compete.

The three-day trial is open to the public. All spectators are invited to attend, but pets are not permitted. The only dogs present at the trial are the dogs competing.

BARK members will be present to answer any questions from people interested in AKC agility. Inquiries can also be directed to BARKagilityclub1@gmail.com or jbbr.seren.shel@usa.net.
