The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded Friday night to a shooting on Hwy. 43 between Silver Creek and New Hebron that left one man dead and another trying to evade law enforcement.

Sometime during the short pursuit, the suspect made an attempt to end his own life and succumbed to his wounds Sunday in a Jackson hospital, according to Sheriff Ryan Everett.
