The beautiful blue skies and warm temperatures shoppers enjoyed at the Brookhaven Thanksgiving Farmer’s Market Tuesday have disappeared as a line of storms makes its way across the region this morning.

An approaching cold front is making its way across Mississippi this morning bringing with it the potential for damaging winds. A line of storms associated with the front should move through Brookhaven and Lincoln County a little after sunrise, bring with it rain and gusty winds that could last until 11 a.m. Areas of Brookhaven and Lincoln County have reported spotty showers this morning.

The National Weather Service has issued is a Level 1 “Marginal” threat for severe storms across Central Mississippi today. Damaging winds and locally heavy rain will be the main threats, though there will also be a low threat for one or two tornadoes.

After the front moves through, the skies should gradually clear and make way for mostly sunny skies with high temperatures near 70 degrees.

After a dry Thanksgiving, rain looks to return Friday through Saturday and Sunday. This could potentially be a heavy rainfall event, with 3 to 5 inches of rainfall. Localized flooding could become a concern by the end of the weekend.
