Area piano students win national and local awards

Six of Terry Doremus’ piano students won awards during 2020.
Beverly Horton won first place in a national contest for original compositions. Her song “A Polar Bear’s Lullaby” won top honors in the Younger Division for “Piano Explorer” magazine, as well as first place in the same division among Doremus’ students.
Anna Leigh Hayes won first place in the Older Division of Doremus’ students for Original Composition with her song “Glacial Ice Streams.”
Amelia Furr and Abby Camille Slay tied for highest score for the computer music program, each earning The Computer Award.
Five Year trophies were presented to Anna Leigh Hayes and Emma Mirabal.
