Police officer to be remembered in Sunday service

Brookhaven Police Lt. Marzell Brooks will be laid to rest Sunday in Hillcrest Cemetery, Brookhaven, following a brief period of visitation at Tyler Funeral Home.

Brooks, 58, died Nov. 15 from COVID-related causes. He was a 28-year veteran of the Brookhaven Police Department and a long-time school resource officer for Brookhaven Public Schools.

Visitation will be from noon until 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Tyler. Masks must be worn by visitors.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 1 p.m. and progress to the cemetery. Officers, officials and first responders will line the route in honor of Brooks’ service.
