2020 Junior Ambassadors promote the Chamber

The 2021 Junior Ambassadors will soon begin their duties as the Christmas season is kicked off by the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. Serving as ambassadors to the business community, each Junior Ambassador must be a ninth-grade student and reside in Lincoln County.

Twenty-seven businesses across Brookhaven and Lincoln County will be open Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. to start the season with new merchandise, holiday displays and decorated storefronts. This year’s theme is “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”

Marion Olivia Baker, daughter of Larry Baker and Leslie Baker, is a freshman at Brookhaven Academy. Marion is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Junior Honor Society. Achievements include Junior Scholars, receiving the Academic Excellence Award, being selected for Honors English, and accumulating the most community service hours for the 2019-2020 School Year. She is a Brookhaven Academy Cougar Cheerleader and member of the BA Tennis Team. She is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where she serves as a youth organizer. Marion says her favorite thing about Brookhaven is volunteering her talents at the Brookhaven Little Theatre. Marion will be at 601 Sports greeting guests for Christmas Open House.

Allayna Kay Barnett, daughter of Allen and Larinda Barnett, is a freshman at Enterprise Attendance Center. Allayna is a member of Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America, BETA Club and the Enterprise yearbook staff. She was selected as eighth grade Homecoming Maid by her student body and is an ongoing member of the Honor Roll. She plays tennis and basketball, and cheers for the Yellow Jackets. Allayna is a member of Fair River Baptist Church where she enjoys spending time with her youth group. She says her favorite thing about Brookhaven is the community spirit and people lending a hand when they know someone is in need. Her second favorite thing is eating at the Mexican Restaurant with her friends. Allayna will be at Beyond the Rainbow greeting guests for Christmas Open House.

Maria Jose Barrera, daughter of Genaro Reqnena, is a freshman at Brookhaven High School. Maria is a member of the BHS Pride of Ole Brook Marching Band. She received the Most Improved Award for Seventh Grade Band and has received All-A Honor Roll through middle school and Jr. High. Maria enjoys reading classic English literature and participating in Fair River’s youth group. She says her favorite thing about living in Brookhaven is the kind people. Maria will be at Bertha’s Flower Shoppe greeting guests for Christmas Open House.

Lydia Joan Bass, daughter of Chris and Janie Bass, is a freshman at Loyd Star Attendance Center. She is a member of Loyd Star’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was selected as secretary for Junior Beta Club. Lydia received All-A and B Honor Roll throughout Jr. High. She is a member of the LSH Hornet varsity cheerleading squad and plays varsity basketball and also enjoys coaching the Loyd Star Pee Wee basketball team. Lydia is an active member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Youth Group. She loves backpacking and hiking. Her favorite things about Brookhaven are her small school and church where everyone knows each other and that her family all lives here and she can be close to them. She loves Brookhaven’s awesome restaurants and shopping for clothes in the local boutiques. Lydia will be at Beyond the Rainbow greeting guests for Christmas Open House.

Ali Dey Brister, daughter of Aron and Brittany Brister, is a freshman at Enterprise Attendance Center. She is a member of Future Business Leaders of America, student council and the Enterprise Yearbook Staff.

Ali’s achievements include A and B Honor Roll, High A Average in Language and Math, Highest Average in History, The Citizenship Award, and Student of the Month. Ali is a cheerleader for the Yellow Jackets where she was also selected as an All American. She is active in her church choir. She is passionate about keeping the city clean and volunteering her time to ensure food security for others less fortunate. Her favorite thing about living in Brookhaven is friendly people and having not one, but two Mexican Restaurants to choose from. Ali will be at Brookhaven MedSpa greeting guests for Christmas Open House.

Aubrey Claire Boman, daughter of Lindy and Corey Smith, is a freshman at Loyd Star Attendance Center. She is a member of the Loyd Star Jr. Beta Club. Aubrey excels in academics and has consistently been on the A and B Honor Roll. She currently serves as the High School Basketball Manager. She says her favorite thing about living in Brookhaven is having close friends and she loves her cute, small town. Aubrey will be at Castles greeting guests for Christmas Open House.

Vivianna Kathryn DeLacruz, daughter of Ivy Tanner, is a freshman at Bogue Chitto Attendance Center. She was the recipient of several Writing and English Awards and has consistently been on the A and B Honor Roll at Bogue Chitto. Vivianna is a member of New Hope Methodist Church enjoys being active with their youth group and helping with Vacation Bible School. She is also involved with New Hope’s Nature Committee. She says her favorite thing about living in Brookhaven is her small community. Everyone knows one another and she loves that our local businesses are friendly and welcoming when you enter. Vivianna will be greeting guests at Elaina Anders Designs for Christmas Open House.

Lainey Grace Delaughter, daughter of Chris Delaughter and Kristie Cohen, is a freshman at Enterprise Attendance Center. Lainey excels in her education and is on the A and B Honor Roll. She is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, Diamond Dolls, Yellow Jacket Yearbook Staff, the Gridiron Gang and Future Farmers of America. She also cheers and plays basketball for her school. Lainey is a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She says her favorite thing about Brookhaven is the nice people. She will be greeting guests at Picket Fences Vendors during Christmas Open House.

Sierra Jole Edwards, daughter of Grant and Tangela Edwards, is a freshman at Brookhaven High School. She was selected for her excellence in academics to be a part of the Quest Gifted Students Program. She is also an A and B Honor Roll student. Sierra is a member of the Brookhaven High Cheer squad and The Pride of Ole Brook Marching Band. She loves gymnastics, is a praise dancer at her church and enjoys music and working with children. Her favorite thing about living in Brookhaven is being close to her family. Sierra will be greeting guests at Engravables for Christmas Open House.

Amy Grace Estes, daughter of Coleman and Cindy Turnage, is a freshman at Loyd Star Attendance Center. She is an honor roll student, 4H Shooting District Champion, and was selected as captain of the Horner Color Guard. Amy is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Atheletes the Loyd Star Beta Club and Future Farmers of America. She plays varsity soccer and is a member of the National Barrel Horse Association. She is a member of Mt. Zion and is active in their youth group. Amy says her favorite thing about Brookhaven is the hospitality shown by the local business and restaurants. She will be greeting guests at Expectations during Christmas Open House.

Reagan Elise Fortenberry, daughter of Hugh and Chris Fortenberry, is a freshman at Brookhaven Academy. Reagan excels in academics and is on the BA Honor Roll and is a Mississippi Scholar. She is a member of the BA basketball and tennis teams. Reagan is a member of First Baptist Church and is active in their youth group. She enjoys babysitting and hanging out with her friends. Reagan says her favorite thing about living in Brookhaven is how everybody knows everybody. She will be greeting guests at Judy’s II Shoes & More.

Jenna Grace Fuller, daughter of Dawn Fuller and the late Mark Fuller, is a Freshman at Brookhaven High School. Jenna excels in academics and is on the All-A Honor Roll at BHS. She was selected as a rising scholar and both Lipsey Middle School and Alexander Junior High School. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is a proud member of the BHS Lady Panthers Softball Team. Jenna is a member of Jackson Street United Methodist Church and enjoys volunteering with their Vacation Bible School each year. Jenna’s favorite thing about Brookhaven is the historic downtown area. She also loves the fun  events that are planned throughout year and open to the public. Jenna will be greeting guests at Expectations Too during Christmas Open House.

Jaylynn ReAnn Goss, daughter or Chris and Amanda Goss, is a freshman at Brookhaven High School. She is a Mississippi Scholar and was selected to be a part of the Quest Gifted Student Program. Jaylynn is a member of the competitive company at Brookhaven Dance Academy where she is a student teacher and has received numerous dance awards along with a scholarship to dance camp. She traveled to New York City with her dance company to take classes under professional dancers on Broadway. Jaylynn is an active member of Christian Life Fellowship Church. She says her favorite thing about living in Brookhaven is the sense of community. When people say “We are Ole Brook!” you know they really mean it. Jaylynn will be greeting guests at Judy’s II Shoes & More.

Anna Leigh Hayes, daughter of Chad and Amy Hayes, is a freshman at Brookhaven High School. Anna Leigh is a BHS Diamond Girl, member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council Representative, and recently performed in the highly anticipated BHS Homecoming Production. She is an honor roll student and was selected as a Mississippi Scholar. She was voted “Wittiest” in Jr. High and received the Duke TIP Award. Anna Leigh placed first in the local piano composition contest and her artwork was chosen to be featured on the cover of National Piano Explorer Magazine. She plays for the BHS soccer team and runs cross country. She is a seasoned pianist haven taken eight years of lessons. She is a member of Grace Life Church of Brookhaven and is active in their youth group volunteering her talents to their outreach ministries team. She loves art and science. Anna Leigh says her favorite thing about Brookhaven is the great local eateries and friendly people. She will be greeting guests at Grace and Glamour Salon during Christmas Open House.
