Brookhaven Panthers Cross Country continues strong season

The Brookhaven High girls’ cross-country team took first place in the Fleet Feat Invitational on Sept. 12. The Lady Panthers were led by sophomore Ramie Stovall who finished seventh overall with a time of 24 minutes and 51 seconds on the 5K course. BHS edged out St. Andrew’s for the team title. The Lady Panthers also finished fifth overall at the Saltillo High Invitational on Sept. 19. BHS is scheduled to run again this Saturday at the Clinton High Invitational.
The Brookhaven High boys’ cross-country team finished second overall Saturday at the Saltillo High Invitational. The race was won by 6A Bartlett High of Tennessee. Grayson Childress was the fifth-place finisher with a career best time of 16 minutes and six seconds to lead BHS. The Panthers were fresh off winning the Fleet Feat Invitational in Flowood the previous weekend as Sam Arnold, Childress and Jake Thompson finished first, second and third respectively in that race. BHS cross-country is coached by Shannon Knott and Kevin Bower.
