Herschel L. Guess

Herschel L. Guess passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at the age of 88. He was born in Fair River, Mississippi, and was a resident of Metairie, Louisiana, for 35 years, and resided in Brookhaven, Mississippi, for the last 32 years.

He was a graduate of Warren Easton High School in New Orleans and served in the United States Navy and was retired from NOPSI/RTA.

Herschel loved life. He always had an interesting story and was an animated storyteller. He was an avid letter writer and if you were blessed enough to receive a letter, you felt as if he was there with you. He was loved and will be missed by all of the lives he touched.

Mr. Guess was a beloved husband of 63 years to Johnnie L. Guess; loving father of Karl Guess, Alcus Guess and Frances Guess Moreland (Donny); grandfather of Benjamin Stuart Ovide Moreland and Matthew Stuart Francis Moreland.  He was also survived by a nephew and great-niece.

He was the son of the late Velma Mullin Guess and Alcus J. Guess, and brother of the late Evelyn Durinin.

At his wishes, he will be cremated, and his ashes spread over his birthplace.
