Mississippi State Games baseball tryouts are July 1

The 2020 State Games of Mississippi are currently taking place in Meridian as the yearly summer athletic competition enters its 29th year of existence.

Due to restrictions from COVID-19, the timeframe of the events has been adjusted out with some taking place in June and more scheduled for July.

Tryouts for the District 7 baseball team that includes players from Adams, Copiah, Franklin, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marion, Pike, Simpson, Walthall and Wilkinson counties will take place July 2 at Copiah-Lincoln Community College.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. at Sullivan Field with the tryout beginning at 10 a.m. Rising juniors and seniors (classes of 2021, 2022) are invited to tryout. There is a $5 registration fee and a waiver form must be filled out.

Twenty players from the district are selected for the team.

The tournament will take place at Meridian Community College on July 8-11.
