Roy Cook of West Lincoln won $20,000 from a $5 Break the Bank scratch-off ticket he purchased Saturday at the Super Jack’s B-Kwik on East Lincoln Road in Brookhaven. Cook redeemed his ticket Monday in Jackson. The Lincoln County truck driver told lottery officials he stopped to eat fried chicken for lunch at the store before hitting the road and bought the ticket at the last minute. He didn’t scratch it until he reached Pensacola, Florida. Upon seeing his big win, he called his wife, Rita, who swore he was playing a prank on her until he texted her a photo of the ticket. The couple plans to use the winnings to help their EMT daughter, Alexis, finish paramedic school.
