Friday is the deadline for registering with the Dixie Youth baseball league, serving children from ages 6-12.
“We’re excited to be able to offer and organize sports for these kids,” said Lincoln Civic Center Executive Director Quinn Jordan. “We look forward to a great year and encourage all kids to come out and participate.”
Those who have access to a computer and a scanner can register online at www.lincolnciviccenterbaseballcomplex.com. Parents will need to make an account — if they haven’t already from a previous baseball season — and upload their child’s birth certificate. Parents can also register at the center from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
“They can do all that in our office, if they need Internet or scanning capability,” Jordan said.
Registration is $95 for children aged 7-12 and $85 for children 6 and under. Children age 5 who will turn 6 by Sept. 1 are eligible to register. Children of other ages will need to have birthday’s before May 1 to be eligible for that age bracket.
Scholarship options are available for low-income families. Jordan said families who will be asking for financial assistance will still need to get their children in the system by Friday.
“They can go ahead and sign up and put on there, ‘pay by check’ or ‘pay later’ and submit that form,” he said. “But they still need to have their registration complete.”
Low-income families can contact the center at lincolnciviccenter@co.lincoln.ms.us to request an application for assistance. The civic center can also be reached by phone at 601-823-9064.
Dixie Youth will hold player evaluation on Feb. 22. Registration for players age 8 and under will begin at 10:30 a.m. on field 1, with showcase beginning at 11 a.m. Ages 9 and 10 will begin registration at 8:30 a.m. on field 2, with showcase beginning 9 a.m. Registration for age 11 and 12 will begin at 9 a.m. on field 3, with showcase beginning at 9:30 a.m.
