Several local services will be closed Wednesday for New Year’s Day.

Area schools will continue to be out for Christmas break, with children returning to school Jan 6.

Garbage pick-up will be postponed Near Year’s Day. The schedule for pick-up will be pushed back one day, with Wednesday garbage picked up Thursday. Local officials have advised residents to put their garbage out the night before. The time garbage trucks run can vary, and may be as early as 4 a.m.

The Brookhaven and West Brookhaven Post Offices will be closed New Year’s Day.

The Lincoln County-Brookhaven Government Complex, along with the government buildings for Monticello and Lawrence County, Meadville and Franklin County, and Wesson will all be closed New Year’s Day. They will be open Tuesday.

The Daily Leader will publish a combined newspaper for Tuesday and Wednesday, which will be delivered to subscribers on Tuesday.
