Gumanoy, May

Joan May Gumanoy, from Sibahay Lanuza Surigao del Sur, Philippines, and Jonathan Andrew May, from McComb, were recently married in a private ceremony at West McComb Baptist Church. Rev. Vann Windom officiated.

The couple met while May was employed and living in Ewa Ewa Beach, Hawaii. May made several trips to the Philippines. After returning to mainland USA, May proposed and they started the process for Miss Gumanoy to come to the USA.

The bride is the daughter of Vilma Gumanoy and Noel Poquita, of Sibahay, Philippines. She is the granddaughter of Josefa Gumanoy and the late Crispo Gumanoy, of Sibahay, Philippines; and Berting Poquita and the late Annecita Poquita, of Davao, Philippines.

Mrs. May graduated from Florita Herrera Irizari National High School and the University of Cebu-Banilad Campus, Philippines. She was employed as executive assistant at Tallant Asia Philippines.

The groom is the son of Ed and Sophia May, of Meadville. He is the grandson of Peggy May and the late James May, of Summit; Carolyn and Wayne McInnis, of Wesson; and the late John C. Brekeen Jr., of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Mr. May graduated from Bogue Chitto High School, Southwest Mississippi Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi. He has traveled around the United States as a safety professional with Safway Services LLC and Brock Services.

He is employed as an area safety manager with Apache Industrial Services Inc., in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The happy couple are making their home in Lake Charles.
