C’aria Brown, 8, reads her essay on the air Monday, starting a two-week Black History Month program at WCHJ in Brookhaven. For 22 years, students in the after-school program at the Boys & Girls Club of Lincoln County study black Americans who have made impacts on society and take turns sharing what they learn for station owner Rev. Charles Tillman and his listeners. The 30-minute segments can be heard at 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for the next two weeks on Victory 1470 AM and Praise 97.5 FM. Pictured are, from left: Boys & Girls Club Director Melanie Lewis, Brown, 10-year-old Zharia Belcher and 11-year-old Asia Hughes.
