The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wesson Campus Archery Team recently won the Mississippi Community College State Indoor Championship.
The team shot against other Mississippi colleges and university teams competing for places in the United States Collegiate Archery Association finals in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Kryslynn Poole of Wesson won first place in the state Basic Bow Female Division. Marc McNeese of Sontag won first place in Basic Bow Male Division. Right behind McNeese was Austin Smith of Mount Olive who captured second place honors out of all of the colleges and universities in the state. Four-year colleges and universities participating in the competition were Mississippi State University, William Carey University, Mississippi College and Blue Mountain College.
The trio’s scores seeded them in excellent position leading them into the national competition. Smith and McNeese are seeded number two and three, respectively, in the men’s division. Poole is seeded number four in the women’s division.
Co-Lin is the only community college in the state to have competitive archery teams. The team is coached by John McDonald and is the reigning Mississippi Community College State 3D Champions.
