Mazie Lee Lofton

Funeral services for Mazie Lee Lofton, of Smithdale, are today, Jan. 22, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home with burial at Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery in McCall Creek. Bro. Lonnie Case and Bro. Stephen Slump will officiate the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue today, Jan. 22, 2019, from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lofton, 91, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born March 11, 1927, in Lincoln County, to Franklin and Hattie Chandler Smith. She married Rev. Sherrell Lofton and served as a pastor’s wife for over 30 years. She was a member of Ramah Baptist Church; was a homemaker; and enjoyed going to the Smokey Mountains, reading, cooking and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Sherrell Lofton; daughters, Rebecca Lofton Wilson and Sandra Lofton; grandson, Jasper Steele; son-in-law, Kenneth Wayne Wilson; sister, Mildred Nettles; and brothers, Henderson Smith and Wylie Smith.

Survivors are her daughter, Tina Steele and husband, Darrell, of Smithdale; siblings, Mamie Case, Frank Smith and wife, Joann, Mary Watts, and Elaine Smith and husband, Edwin; grandchildren, Jeff Wilson, Chris Wilson, Brad Purser and wife, Tracy, Stacy Smith and husband, Jamie, John Walter “Jack” Joffrion and wife, Brandy, and Monica Steele; great-grandchildren, Mason Wilson, Joseph Wilson, Jared Wilson, Emily Walker and husband, Austin, Casey Lofton and wife, Kendra, Allie Lofton, Madison Drew Nichols, Emaleigh Privatte, John Michael Joffrion, Braylei Steele and Macey Steele; great-great-grandchildren, Addie Lofton, Kenny Wilson, Johnny Wilson, June Wilson, and Cahnon Blanc; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers are Jeff Wilson, Jack Joffrion, Brad Purser, Casey Lofton, Ken Lofton, and Bobby Lofton.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Crystal Thomas for her loving caring and friendship to Mrs. Mazie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Lofton’s name may be made to Arlington Baptist Church Building Fund, 1284 Bogue Chitto Road, Bogue Chitto, MS 39629.
