Funeral services for William A. George, of Brookhaven, are Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Brookhaven with burial at Riverwood Memorial Park.
Visitation is Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by the Vigil of the Deceased at 7 p.m. at the church. Visitation continues Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
Mr. George, 93, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Sept. 2, 1925, to Amein George and Latiffie Beshara George. He worked at Phillips Brothers Lumber Company and later became a foreman at Wall Lumber Company and he worked as a clerk at Perkins Hardware. He served his country in the United States Navy in World War II, and continued to be fiercely patriotic, having love for his family, his country and God. Mr. George was a devout member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and five sisters.
Survivors are his wife, Claudette Webb George; sons, William A. “Billy” George, Michael T. George (Susan); daughters, Mary Catherine George, Rosanne George, Angie Smith (Darren); seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
