Funeral services for Florence Louise Calcote Cox, of Brookhaven, are Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven with burial at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, from 9 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cox, 91, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018. She was born Jan. 28, 1927, to Wade Hamilton Calcote Jr. and Jennie Belle Pennington Calcote. She was a graduate of Draughon’s Business College and she continued her education with General Motors and Kenworth Trucks. She worked as a business manager in the automotive and commercial truck industry at a time when very few women held those positions. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. She was a very active member of the community, serving with the Willing Hearts Circle and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She served her church with over 50 years of devoted attendance and teaching Sunday school.

She was on the Silver Cross Nursing Home Board and an officer with the Mississippi Square and Round Dance Association. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be missed by all who loved her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Kittrell Cox Sr.; parents; and one sister, Wadie Belle DiFrancesco.

Survivors are her sons, James Kittrell Cox Jr. and wife, Margie, Joe Calcote Cox and wife, Angie, and Jerry Marc Cox and wife, Barbie; five grandchildren, Jessica Cox Harvey and husband, Caleb, Wade Collins Cox and wife, Katie, Christopher James Cox and wife, Laura Ann, Claire Cox Strong and husband, Jonathan, Allison Jane Cox Rittenburg and husband, Stephen; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cox’s family would like to offer our deepest appreciation to her many caregivers both at home and at Haven Hall Health Care Center.
