In a game that went down to the wire, Bogue Chitto was able to survive Enterprise to pick up a 50-46 win Monday.
Bogue Chitto moves to 7-11, 1-1 Region 7-2A. The season has been hard on Enterprise who now stand at 2-9, and winless in Region 7-2A.
Enterprise saw themselves down, but not out, at halftime. The Jackets came out of halftime with renewed hope and managed to climb back into the game, only to see Bogue Chitto squeak out the win.
“Bogue Chitto did what they had to do to win. They just made more plays than we did at the end,” Enterprise coach Shane Adams said. “Now we have to get ready for our next game.”
The Yellow Jackets couldn’t shake the turn-over bug, as Bogue Chitto built up their score off the ball switching hands. The Cats led 17-7 after one full period.
Yellow Jackets’ senior Cade Feltus did all he could, in the second quarter, to keep his team in the game, hitting three-pointers after another. Enterprise was down 27-19 at halftime.
Enterprise’s offense heated up in the third, gaining ground on Bogue Chitto. The Bobcats managed to take a 35-29 lead into the fourth period.
The Jackets kept the game close throughout the final period, as they managed to cause turnovers themselves and took advantage of them, converting them into points.
With time running out, the Cats took one last gasp of offense, to win 50-46.
Senior Cade Feltus led the Jackets with 15 points. Freshman Dylan Carter netted seven points and junior Jalon Grinstead followed up with six points. Senior Jevante Jenkins hit four points. Junior Peytin Jergins and sophomore Matthew Malone finished with two points each.
Bogue Chitto had three players make it to double digits. Junior Brandon Lewis nailed 15 points and junior Darius Porter netted 11 points. Junior Damarcus Godbolt made 10 points and sophomore Zach Upkins hit six points. Junior Jermaine Black and sophomore Josh Thomas each chipped in four points.
Bogue Chitto will be in action Friday, as they take on Region 7-2A opponent Loyd Star.
Enterprise will host Amite Friday for regional action.
