A Brookhaven man and woman remain hospitalized in Jackson in serious condition after a shooting earlier this week that is believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute, Brookhaven Police Chief Kenneth Collins said.
The shooting occurred at a house in the 100 block of Cedar Street about 9:30 p.m. Monday.
Charges are pending against the man, who has not been identified by police, Collins said. He is expected to survive his wounds, which appear to be self-inflicted, Collins said.
The woman is recuperating from her wounds as well, he said.
“She was up walking and talking,” Collins said Thursday.
Brookhaven Police Department received a call of shots being fired Monday night. While enroute to the scene, King’s Daughters Medical Center personnel reported a female had come to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers at the home on Cedar Street found a male subject who had also been shot. They were taken to University of Mississippi Medical Center.
“It started with some kind of domestic dispute,” Collins said Tuesday.
He said there are no additional suspects in the shooting. The incident remains under investigation by BPD.
