Funeral services for Melba Ruth Turnage Johnson, of Brookhaven, are Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Brookhaven with burial at the church cemetery. Harrigill Funeral Home in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be today, Nov. 17, 2017, from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson, 82, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at her residence. She was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Vidon, Texas, to Edgar A. Turnage and Velma McDavid Turnage. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Brookhaven.  She was a former president of the Lions Club, singer, president of WMU, and a witness for the Lord. She was a self-employed seamstress.

Preceded in death were her parents; sister, Sally White; grandson, Jerry Daniel Johnson.

Survivors are her husband Jerry Lee Johnson, of Brookhaven; two sons, Jerry Wayne Johnson and wife, Tabitha, of Wesson, and Kenneth Lee Johnson and wife, Kathy, of Brookhaven; brother, Donald Turnage, of Silver City, New Mexico; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
