Visitors are encouraged to reflect on the true meaning of the Christmas season with family as they drive through the park and view scenes depicting Christ’s life from birth to resurrection.

An audio CD will be provided to each vehicle with music and scripture that corresponds to the scenes.

Admission is free.

For more information, call the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce at 601-587-3007 or Jane Boyd at 601-405-4975.

New Sight Baptist will offer visitors a view of Jesus’ life from the angel Gabriel fortelling Christ’s birth to Mary through his resurrection at Calvary.

The drive-through nativity is open Dec. 15-17 from 6-8:30 p.m.

It’s the organizers goal to add to the display this year, so this year they’re including the Lord’s Supper. Brenda Foster, who helps coordinate the display, said it’s important to show more than just a manger scene.

“Besides the birth of Jesus, we want to let you know you do have hope because of what Jesus Christ did on the cross. He died and rose again for our sins,” she said. “We want people to know there is hope with Jesus Christ. We put it out there for the communities’.”

Viewers can drive through the scenes and see the whole thing in about 20 minutes, though Foster said visitors are welcome to get out and ask questions.

“Some people come back again. They’ll drive around and want to see it again,” she said.

Each of the scenes has the Bible verse next to it and what it means.

More than 2,500 people were part of the three-night procession that circles the church grounds last year.

About 130 people including the 70 cast members are part of the program which also includes live animals. They’ll have llamas, a donkey, sheep, goats and chickens, she said.

New Sight Baptist Church is located at 2404 New Sight Drive.
