Life is sweet at Sweeteez bakery

Life is as a sweet as a cupcake.
If you have a sweet tooth make your way over to Sweeteez located on 119 Monticello St. in downtown Brookhaven.
The new bakery opened its doors on May 2 and offers a variety of items. The store’s specialties include chocolate covered strawberries, turtle brownies, cupcakes, gourmet and candied apples and other homemade treats.
For owner Teegie Hargro, opening her own place has been a dream for some time now.
“It just started out as a hobby. I was making strawberries at home and riding around to different places selling them. I eventually got plugged in at PJ’s Coffee in McComb and started making sweets for them. It’s not your typical bakery, I want to offer something different around here,” Hargro said.
“Weekends are pretty much reserved for parties, weddings and different events. We do a lot of business in the surrounding areas,” she said.
Hargro finds inspiration in her late husband who died May 30, 2016. The grand opening for Sweeteez is set for the one-year anniversary of her husband’s death.
“The grand opening is dedicated to him. He’s my motivation. He always told me to open this store. I feel I’m making my husband proud and I worked really hard for this. He’s my motivation every single day,” said Hargro.
Sweeteez is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
