Good luck to teams playing for title

Two local teams — Bogue Chitto and Loyd Star — remain in the hunt for a state championship.
The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats are one step closer to a fast-pitch softball title after winning their opening game against Hamilton Wednesday. Game two in the championship series will be today. A third game, if needed, will be Saturday.
Loyd Star takes the field tonight for the opening game of the South State baseball title series. If they win two games, they will advance to the championship series.
Both teams have relied on the heroics of key players. Bogue Chitto’s Codi Leggett continues to impress and had another big game Wednesday. She hit a walk-off single to center field to win the game. She’s also done a great job on the mound. It’s a team effort for sure, but Leggett has been a key part of this team’s success.
Loyd Star’s Parker Flowers has also stood out. Flowers hit three homers in the Hornets’ win over Richton Friday night. Flowers has also done a great job on the mound. Just like with Bogue Chitto’s success, Loyd Star’s impressive 33-1 record is the result of a team playing well at every position.
We congratulate Bogue Chitto and Loyd Star on their success and wish them all the best as they work to bring home a state title.
