The Daily Leader’s advertising staff and graphics department won 21 awards, including seven first-place honors, in the annual Better Newspaper Contest Awards Advertising Division.

The awards were handed out Saturday in Jackson.

The Daily Leader competed against other daily newspapers of similar circulation size.
“These winners represent the best in advertising service provided to customers and readers for 2015-2016,” said MPA Executive Director Layne Bruce.  “The Advertising Excellence Awards are presented for the cumulative body of work of these newspapers over a year’s time, and honors their efforts in print newspaper, magazine and digital advertisements.”

The Daily Leader finished first in advertisements in the following categories: Institutional, Political, Auto, Retail, Grocery and Restaurant, Auto-color and Magazine Periodical (Brookhaven Magazine).  

“These awards are well-deserved and show the commitment made by the advertising staff and graphics department to produce a quality newspaper that serves the advertising community as well as readers,” Daily Leader Publisher Luke Horton said.
