A familiar face will be back on the diamond in the spring at Bogue Chitto High School.
The Lincoln County School Board Monday night voted to hire Tony Davis as a teacher and head baseball coach at the school effective Jan. 4.
The hire came at the recommendation of Superintendent Mickey Myers and Bogue Chitto principal Jay Rayborn.
The hiring, or basically rehiring, of Davis is a technicality.
This is his third time to be hired to coach basebal in the spring season.
Myers said they must hire him each December to be a coach and teacher in the spring because he’s reitried.
Davis was principal at Lawrence County and also coached baseball for the Cougars for 16 years. He also served one term in Lawrence County as superintendent, Myers said.
In other business, Myers asked the board to consider traveling to Ridgeland to attend a Superintendents’ Academy workshop on Feb. 10-11.
Myers will be there Feb. 10-12.
He said he encouurages board members to participate in the visioning session that will be presented.
The Mississippi Department of Education organized the academy as an advanced leadership training program to assist district leaders in their efforts to improve student outcomes.
