Wesson family in need of prayers

Just as the Enterprise community was in need of your prayers recently, a local family hit by multiple tragedies does as well.
A father and husband was killed in a crash on I-55 last week. Shawn McLendon leaves behind a pregnant wife and 5-year-old twin daughters, an 8-year-old daughter, an 11-year-old son, a 14-year-old son and an adult daughter, according to family.
That’s more pain and heartbreak than most of us will ever know. It gets worse though.
McLendon’s stepfather was killed in June in a landslide at a gravel pit in Crystal Springs. His sister’s teenage daughter, Sonya Jackson, was injured in a wreck in Copiah County earlier last week and died Saturday.
Jackson’s accident happened Tuesday on Beauregard Road. She was in the backseat of a car driven by a classmate. The car went off the road, jumped a fence and flipped over, said Capt. Joey Errington with the Copiah County Sheriff’s Department.
The community has already rallied to help the family following the crash. Jackson was taken off life support Saturday after organ donation arrangements were made. Jackson’s death will mean life to another family.
We can’t imagine the depth of despair this family is likely feeling. They are likely in desperate need of hope and encouragement right now. They also need your prayers.
A fund has been set up at Trustmark Bank to help McLendon’s wife and children. If you can’t donate, we encourage you to find another way to support this family.
The Lincoln and Copiah communities have always been willing to help neighbors in need. We know it will be the same following these tragedies.
