James R. “Yogi” Yarbrough

Funeral services for Mr. James R. “Yogi” Yarbrough, of Brookhaven, are Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Brookhaven First Baptist Church with burial at Riverwood Memorial Park.
Visitation is also Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at the church.
Mr. Yarbrough, 79, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 20, 1936, in Indianola to R.C. and Gertrude Yarbrough.
He was a graduate of Mississippi College and worked in hospital food service administration for 27 years, working in Alabama, Florida and Louisiana.
During the years in New Orleans he served on the Baptist Association of Great New Orleans Board; was a deacon at Edgewater Baptist Church for many years; served on the Board of Trustees of the New Orleans Chef Apprenticeship Program; and was past president of the LA State Chapters of the American Society for Hospital Food Service Administrators.
In retirement, he loved to golf, fish, camp and be with his family. He loved the Lord and was always willing to help a friend. He and his wife, Judy, spent time the past 16 years volunteering at Ridgecrest Conference Center in North Carolina.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and John McKinney.
Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Judy, son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Donna Yarbrough of Mandeville, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Tom Mason of Morehead City, North Carolina; grandchildren, Trey and Sydney Mason of Statesboro, Georgia, and Josh Mason of Morehead City, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church for the Building Fund or the Casa de Fe Mission or the charity of your choice.
