Q: Who changes the light bulbs in the Home Seekers Paradise sign, located at the intersection of East Cherokee Street and South Whitworth Street, and the Welcome to Brookhaven sign, located at the intersection of Hampton Drive and Brookway Boulevard?

A: The Home Seekers Paradise and Welcome to Brookhaven signs are owned and operated by the city of Brookhaven, according to Public Works Director Keith Lewis.

“The public works department and street department maintain the signs,” Lewis said. “We change the bulbs in the sign whenever we notice they are out or someone calls.”

Lewis said the public works department typically changes the bulbs in the signs every three months. The bulbs in the signs are normal fluorescent light bulbs.

“The department personnel are not always out at night to notice if a bulb is blown,” Lewis said. “We will replace them, if the public notifies us.”

To report a blown light bulb in one of the signs, Lewis said to call the public works department at 601-833-7766.
