Funeral services for Rev. James A. Case Sr. are Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park. 

Visitation is Friday, June 10, 2016, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Riverwood.

Rev. Case, 80, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at his residence. He was born Oct. 6, 1935, to Felix and Grace Smith Case.

Rev. Case married Mrs. Freda Smith Case on Nov. 21, 1956. He was a market manager at numerous stores throughout the counties. He received his certificate of ordination through New Prospect Baptist Church on May 15, 1966. Rev. Case pastored churches in north, south and central Mississippi as well as several churches in Louisiana. He received the Distinguished Service Award in Who’s Who in Mississippi on June 5, 1990. Rev. Case enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and church members. He loved life, the Lord, his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Mary Dorcas Case; brother, Howard Case; nephew, Ken Case; niece, Selena Case; and his father-and mother-in-law, Eldon and Dorcas Smith.

Survivors are his wife of more than 59 years, Freda Ann Smith Case; three children, Jimmy Case and wife, Darlene, Angelia Young and husband, Jim and Reggie Case and wife, Pattie; brother, Dennis Case and wife, Nita Faye of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Delina Smith and husband, Chris, Jennifer Whittington and husband, Marc, Weston Young and wife, Emily, Timothy Young and wife, Courtney, Dalton Case and Dylan Case; and seven great-grandchildren, Kasi Case, Brody Smith, Raney Whittington, Haley Whittington, Calan Whittington, Emma Young and Madelyn Young.
