WESSON – Two Copiah-Lincoln Community College softball players have received post-season honors. Catcher Jessica Crum was named NJCAA Second Team All-American, MACJC Player of the Year, and MACJC First Team All-State. Pitcher Kaitlyn Taylor earned MACJC First Team All-State.
Crum, an Alcorn State signee, broke her own Co-Lin home run record of 16 after hitting 20 round trippers this past season. The sophomore from Prairieville, Louisiana, led the nation in batting average with a staggering .623. She drew 48 walks, posted a .738 on base percentage, and finished the year with a 1.254 slugging percentage. Not surprisingly Crum led the Lady Wolves with 61 RBIs. One of her most impressive stats was only striking out six times in 114 at plate appearances.
Taylor was a leader throughout the season as the Lady Wolves primary pitcher. Taylor racked up 12 wins and two saves in her outings. The right-handed pitcher had a 2.66 ERA and struck out 91 batters on the year. She hit 14 homeruns during the season, drove in 51 RBIs, and finished the season batting .350.
The Lady Wolves, coached by Allen Kent, finished the 2015-2016 season with a 29-14 record.
