For the second year in a row, the Wesson Cobras tennis team found themselves facing perennial Class 3A State Champions St. Andrews in the South State tennis playoffs Thursday.
Although Wesson had an improved squad this year, the result was the same: a 7-0 defeat at Co-Lin in Wesson. St. Andrews won on all courts, which no team had done to Wesson all season, their only previous loss coming 5-2 at the hands of the 5A Brookhaven Panthers.
Wesson’s varsity squad will now travel to Oxford on Monday afternoon to begin competition in the MHSAA Class 3A State Individuals Championships. The Saints will face Mooreville in the 3A State Championship match on Monday morning in Oxford.
