Behind a stellar pitching performance from senior Carter Culbertson and a solid defensive performance behind him, the Brookhaven Academy Cougars battled their way to a 4-2 district win over the visiting Laurel Christian School Lions.
Culbertson went the distance for BA striking out nine LCS batters while giving up just two bases on balls.
“I can’t say enough about Carter (Culbertson) and his performance today,” said BA head coach Tyler Parvin. “He’s been a leader for us all year and he certainly stepped up and led by example today.” Makenzie Walters took the loss for Laurel Christian.
JT Cline led the Cougars at the plate with two singles and two RBI’s. Connor Smith added a single and a RBI. Taylor Freeny also had a single to add to the BA hit total. Ethan Surrett and Robert Grady Pickering each had two hits for the Lions.
