Jackets fall to Cathedral

NATCHEZ – The Enterprise Jackets fell to the Natchez Cathedral Green Wave 9-2 Saturday.
“Overall, we played OK, but the one big inning in the fourth hurt us,” said Enterprise coach Cass Brister. “We have to eliminate that. We need to start playing our best now with two games left in the regular season on Monday and Tuesday, before starting our playoff run Friday.”
The Jackets (12-6, 8-2) will resume action Monday when they host the South Jones Braves. Junior varsity action begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
Cathedral 9, Enterprise 2
Cathedral quickly secured a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Jackets would cut into the Green Wave’s lead at 2-1, scoring in the top of the second inning.
In the bottom of the second, Cathedral regained its two-run lead, but Enterprise battled to keep the game close at 3-2 after plating one run.
In the fourth inning, Cathedral took control of the contest, scoring four runs to extend its lead to 7-2. The Green Wave added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.
Brock Farmer was the winning pitcher for Cathedral with three strikeouts and three walks.
Tanner Waldrop suffered the setback for Enterprise with four strikeouts and two walks.
Cade Cangemi directed the Jackets with a double and two singles. Jeffery Daniels, Max Miller, Tanner Waldrop and Brady Watts hits a single each.
Zach Flattman paced the Green Wave with a double and a single. Reed White contributed two singles. Pate Shirley and Jardarius Anderson provided a triple each. Hitting safely were Andrew Beesley, Craig Bradley, Jacob Jenkins and Conner Murray.
