Heavy rains prompt flash flood warnings

Some parts of Lincoln County have seen as much as eight inches of rain in the past 48 hours, according to the National Weather Service.
Flash flooding closed several low-lying roads in the area. Lincoln County was under a flash flood warning until late Saturday night and more rainfall was expected overnight.
A flood warning for the Pearl River near Monticello remained in effect until further notice. The river was at 25.3 feet Saturday morning. Flood stage is at 22 feet. The river was expected to crest at 28 feet Monday. At that level, flooding occurs near the Hwy. 84 bridge at Atwood Water Park, water covers Old Hwy. 27 north of Monticello and water appears in low areas in the eastern portion of Monticello.
